The Madison County Board of Adjustment was appointed by the County Commissioners to direct and function as the quasi-judicial board for the county with regard to land use related issues. The Board of Adjustment oversees conditional use hearings, communication towers, and ordinance issues. The Board of Adjustment is tasked with approving Variances. They also handle appeals from the Zoning Enforcement Officer.
Board of Adjustment Meeting Schedule The Board of Adjustment meets as needed in the Courtroom of the Marshall Public Library at 6:30 every 4th Monday as necessary, or as otherwise noted and published. Applications need to be filed at the Madison County Inspections office at least one month in advance of a meeting.
Planning Board 2023
The Madison County Commissioners established the Planning Board whose responsibilities include conducting public hearings to deal with zoning change requests and to make recommendations concerning changes and/or revisions with the ordinance to the Commissioners. In addition to hearing zoning change requests and recommending revisions and changes, the Planning Board monitors growth and development of the county. They consider how such pressures will impact and affect the citizens of Madison County.
Another duty of the Planning Board is approving major subdivisions.

Planning Board Meeting Schedule The Planning Board shall meet on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Meetings are in the Marshall Public Library at 6:30 PM, unless otherwise noted and published. Meetings are subject to change if scheduling problems occur.
